What is Comic Coin?
A stylish, simple iOS and Android app for looking up comic book prices with a focus on privacy. We have no interest in where you are, who you are or what you search for. That’s your business. It’s a simple tool that we as comic geeks wrote to use personally and thought that others in the community may want to use it.
Why did you make Comic Coin?
We collect comics. Some of us for many decades at this point. We were using other tools but none of them did what we wanted them to do in a simple way. There is some great stuff out there that is far more powerful but 9 times out of 10 we found ourselves browsing an auction or checking out the longboxes and just needed a simple, clean way to look up a ballpark value for a book. We didn’t want to have to click through 6 layers and wait for all the graphs, images, current books for sales to load. Scroll to the grade, or possible grade, click again…. You get the point. At any rate we wrote a tool we wanted and use. After using it for a couple of months we thought others in the community might want to use it. Features will be added as we stumble on things that we need to make our collecting lives better, easier. Those features will be rolled out for free to use for all.
Originally the plan was only to offer the BYOK option and the entire thing would be 100% free. What changed? During a recent auction one of the team was using Comic Coin and noticed that any time the third-party API didn’t have pricing information for a specific book for a specific grade an LLM was being asked to take a shot at determining a potential price. That’s when it was decided to add that feature into Comic Coin. After some research we landed on the number of searches that could be performed free of charge. I sure hope our math is right.
TLDR: We made it for ourselves to use. Financial gain is not the driver.
Do I need a PriceCharting subscription?
No, not to try the app. Use AI estimates to jump in. Live PriceCharting data is BYOK — bring your own Pro API token when you want sold records, velocity, and market prices from your account.

You don’t have to pay for Comic Coin. You can use the power of AI to fire off fifty comic price searches every 30ish days at zero cost. Free app, free boom. If you want BIG boom you can BYOK or spring for more AI power (coming soon) using your hard earned coin or crypto.
What does BYOK mean?
Bring Your Own Key. Comic Coin never ships a PriceCharting key. You paste yours in; we store it only on your device. You bring the key, we bring the boom.
What’s the difference between AI and PriceCharting?
AI estimates get you moving right away. PriceCharting is the live market source — powered by your key and your PriceCharting subscription when you’re ready for that path.
Is my API key safe?
Yes. Keys use platform secure storage (Keychain on iOS, encrypted storage on Android). We never transmit your PriceCharting token to Comic Coin servers.
Does my search history leave my phone?
No. Recent searches stay local. You can retry, reload into the form, or delete entries anytime.
Is Comic Coin on iOS and Android?
Yes — one Flutter app for both platforms. Use the platform switch (or the links in Evidence Locker) to preview screenshots for each.
